I'm Coach Amy, and I'm excited to work with you! Informed by your unique sport history, training availability, and running ambition, I work with you to create training that is builds you up, rewards your consistent effort, and gets you across your next finish line faster.
Description
I'm Coach Amy! I'm an NCCP Club Coach (Endurance) and strength coach. I am also a competitive middle-distance athlete with a multi-sport background and a parent of two young kids, which is to say that I know how to cross-train and how to fit training in around a busy schedule! My coaching experience ranges from young athletes in club Junior Development programs and student-athletes at local high schools to masters athletes with multi-sport backgrounds chasing 10K PBs. I am also a volunteer mentor with the Girls Forward Foundation, empowering girls across Canada through participation in the sports they love. One of my emphases when working with developing and competitive athletes is athlete education around fuelling training properly and recovering well to sidestep RED-S, and I have fantastic resources and a dietician that I can refer to for local athletes who want expert nutritional support. As a "parent-athlete" myself, I also really enjoy working with pregnant and postpartum athletes and combine my expertise in running and strength training to support active pregnancies and a full, healthy return to sport postpartum. My lived experience informs my niche expertise in scheduling training around the time constraints of having young children, and I have excellent physiotherapists I can refer local athletes to for highly specialized support in the pre- and postpartum period. Whether you're brand new to running or you're coming back after a break, I'm excited to get to know your unique sport history, training availability, and resources, and your short- and long-term running goals. The training plan I create is built for and adapts to you, and I'll cheer you on every step of the way.
