About Brendan McGoldrick
14 year high school and middle school cross country and track coach; Former Monmouth University distance runner.
Description
My name is Brendan McGoldrick, a 23+ year runner with decades more running in me! I started running in high school and eventually spent five years running at Monmouth University in New Jersey. After college I was working in the running retail industry and began coaching a middle school cross country program. After one year with the middle schoolers I was asked to join the coaching staff at a local high school where I have been coaching ever since, all the while striving to learn as much as I possibly can to help my athletes improve as much as possible.
I have been fortunate enough to coach a number of individual state champions, as well as a state relay championship team, and my coaching staff and I were proud to be the 2014 Sectional winners for Girls Track. My primary coaching experience is in middle and long distance running, but I have five years of working with short and long sprinters using a variety of coaching methodologies. One of my passions is learning more not only about the science and methodologies behind coaching runners, but on the role of a coach and as a leader. I am an avid reader and constantly looking for ways to improve as a teacher, coach, and person.
After spending more time helping my athletes get healthy I realized I had been ignoring my own health and wellness which ended up with me gaining over 50 pounds! In 2015 I dedicated myself to learning more about health and nutrition through the Primal Blueprint and was able to drop the excess weight and get back to being able to train with my teams. I look forward to sharing the wisdom others have given me and using that to help move you closer to your health, wellness, and fitness goals!
