Description
Hello! My name is Katie and I am a running coach based in Chicago, IL. Whether you’ve got a big race goal or just want to improve your fitness I think you’ll really enjoy training with me! I work full time as an architect in Chicago and enjoy training for a variety of race distances throughout the year. Running is my favorite hobby but I also enjoy painting, playing piano, and walks with my Golden Retriever. I've been coached by some really awesome people, including Olympian Dakotah Lindwurm, and developed a passion for helping runners be their strongest and enjoy the journey. My favorite race distances are marathon and half marathon. I ran my first marathon at age 19 and surprised myself by qualifying for Boston! After that I was hooked and continue to work at my goal of a sub-3 hour marathon and running the 6-star marathon majors. I also enjoy training for Triathlons and competed with the Fighting Illini Triathlon team at University of Illinois. I struggled for several years in college with underfueling, simply not eating enough to support my training and recovery which led to several injuries. In recent years I have learned more about runners' nutrition needs and greatly improved my performance, health, and longevity in the sport. Though I'm not a dietitian, I'm happy to share advice about in-race fuel and daily nutrition for runners. I believe strength training is a really valuable tool in preventing some injuries and helping you run faster and stronger. I've seen a lot of growth in my own running and offer a few basic strength training routines to my athletes. My biggest focus with athletes is to build solid fitness while avoiding injury and burnout. The most powerful and underestimated tool in distance running is consistency over months, seasons, and years. I’ll help you follow manageable training that fits your schedule and life. Athletes training with me will focus on keeping a low heart rate on easy runs to make sure they're fully recovered to run FAST at their next speed workout. Training is so much fun when you have the support of a coach and workouts well-suited to your current fitness! I can’t wait to meet you and start crushing some goals!
Athlete Requirements
It’s best if you have a running watch or another way of tracking workouts. The only requirements are a good attitude and willingness to work hard!
