I have been racing competitively since I was a little kid. I have always loved running and am really keen to share it with my athletes. I believe that the process leads the to results, and that training is a mix of an "art" and a "science". I love to get to know my athletes and help them be their best!
Description
I was born and raised in Kelowna, BC and was competed for Stanford University before representing Canada at many international events such as World Championships, Pan American Games, and the Olympic Games in the 1500m.
After 10 years of running on the Canadian National Track Team, I retired and took up the sport of triathlon. I learned a lot about training and competing at long course triathlon, including Ironman (sub 9 hours). I transitioned back to running in 2019 and in my second marathon ran a Canadian record and Olympic qualifying mark of 2:24. I hope I can race in Tokyo at the postponed 2021 Olympics.
As a coach, I have worked for Run SMART / Vdot for 8 years providing online coaching, also working with Education delivery at time. I also coach locally as a track coach for the Okanagan Athletics Club (many of my young athletes earned scholarships to universities around Canada and the USA) and as the Lead Endurance Coach at the University of British Columbia - Okanagan.
I enjoy working with goal oriented runners who need assistance to achieve their ambitious goals. As a working-parent-athlete, I understand what it is like to try to balance work, running and family commitments.
I also work with young track and field athletes, especially ones needing more support than their high school programs can offer or to bridge between seasons.
Using the Vdot training app, I map out your individual training program based on your goals, background, and availability. I also communicate regularly with you via email, text, FaceTime, etc, to make adjustments and support you in the pursuits of your goals.
Personal Best:
2:02 (800), 4:02 (1500), 5000 (15:12), half marathon (1:11), marathon (2:24).
Athlete Requirements
A successful coach-athlete relationship is based on communication and trust; and is a key value in my approach to coaching. I really want to help my athletes achieve their running goals and I work hard to have a relationship with each athlete to know them as athletes and as people. I am also very cognizant of the demands on time and energy in most people's lives and try to maximize efficiency in training.
