Description
I started running as a teenager and ran my first half marathon at age 17. Although I stayed active during my 20s, I had the most success as a comeback runner in my 30s, when I've raced everything from the 400m sprint (53.8 sec at age 38) to the marathon.
Regarding my expertise, I'm standing on the shoulders of giants. I’ve studied all the great coaches (past and present), most notably Renato Canova, Brad Hudson, Steve Magness, Jack Daniels, Arthur Lydiard, Tim Noakes, Matt Fitzgerald, Jason Karp, and Pete Magill. As a lifelong student of the sport, I stay current by reading scientific studies in both English and German. My curiosity also extends to adjacent fields such as sports psychology and nutrition.
Even though I'm familiar with all the training methods, I'm not locked into a particular style. I firmly believe that the training system has to be adapted to the athlete rather than having the athlete adjust to a specific training system. In other words, just because a particular training method works for a runner doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best for you. I also consider your running background, runner type, age, and work/life commitments.
Since 2013, I’ve been coaching runners online on five continents (I've visited 70 countries), some of whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person. I'd love to work with you on your goals, too, wherever you are on your journey to becoming a faster runner.
