Flexible training for folks with all the things going on!

About Heather Caplan RDN
As a registered dietitian and running coach, my favorite thing to do is help runners fuel well and get across their next Finish Line, with training that fits into their life. I offer individualized run and nutrition coaching, specializing in women's health (period health and supporting perinatal athletes). TESTIMONIALS: "I appreciate you and your support so much! This build was amazing and honestly really important to me in this season of life. Never thought low 1:40s was possible for me, so I’m glad I trusted the process. Thank you, I’m so grateful for you!" A.M., 2024
Description
"thank you so much for all your support as I trained for the Mesa Marathon! My time was a PR of over 23 minutes, which I would not have thought possible before I started with you as a coach. Even better than the PR is the fact that I felt strong through all of training and didn't bonk on a single long run, a completely different experience from my first (uncoached) marathon. I feel so much stronger as a runner after just one block working with you as a coach, and I'm excited to see how much more I can continue to grow." Rebecca, 2025 "It's lovely to have my own coach and cheerleader who is looking at my data and seeing what is/isn't working each day, and cheering me on!" Lindsey A., 2024 "Actually enjoying running for the first time in years!" Nick D., 2024 PROFESSIONAL THINGS: I've been a Registered Dietitian (RDN) since 2009, and have specialized in working with folks who have had a history of an eating disorder, REDS, and/or hypothalamic amenorrhea. I have 15 years of experience with coaching, nutrition consulting and counseling. It's been a mix of working with folks of all ages, in all seasons of life. I co-founded the Lane 9 Project, so when I'm not coaching, I'm working through Lane 9 to reduce REDS in to keep more female athletes in sports! LIFE STUFF: I'm a parent to 3 young kiddos, so I have a lot of empathy and understanding for how hard it can be to "just" get a run in on some/most days! I'm based in Ann Arbor MI, so if that's local/near to you, I'd love for you to join one of our group runs. And I spent about 10 years in Washington DC, so some of my favorite races to do most years are in that area. RUNNING STUFF: In this season of life, I'm a big fan of the half-marathon distance and 10-mile races! I ran about 10 marathons before kids, but have gravitated toward to the middle-endurance mileage for now. I lead a local running group in Ann Arbor MI, and am a volunteer race director for a fundraiser race (5K and 10K) in our area. In 2025, so far, I'm signed up for the NYRR NYC Half Marathon in March, and Bayshore Half Marathon in May.
Athlete Requirements
If you are newly postpartum, I hope that you've checked in with a Pelvic Floor PT prior to starting your running/training again. We can chat about what this means and/or what you might have access to! If you have a history of eating disorder (ED), we will chat about who is in your support team as you start running/exercising again. For all potential clients: I'm here to be in your corner as you get back to running, and/or chase new goals!
