Hi, I’m Lindsey Altermatt, founder of MN Trail Run Collective. I’ve been a runner for over 26 years, with experience ranging from road marathons to the rugged ultramarathon, and everything in between. While I have a deep love for Minnesota’s trail systems, I value every mile, whether it's on pavement or dirt. I help runners build a bridge between their current fitness and their wildest goals. Whether you are chasing a road PR or transitioning to the trails, I’m here to help you focus on the miles that matter most to you. Let’s get to work.

As the founder of the MN Trail Run Collective, my coaching is built on one core principle: meeting you exactly where you are—regardless of pace, surface, or experience level. My perspective comes from 26+ years of running combined with professional experience working behind the scenes for Twin Cities In Motion, the organization that produces the Twin Cities Marathon weekend. Having seen race day from every angle—from elite-level logistics to the back of the pack—I understand that a successful performance is built on far more than a training plan. That insight directly shapes how I coach today: practical, adaptive, and grounded in the real demands of training and race weekend execution. I specialize in purposeful, individualized training that removes unnecessary noise and focuses on what actually moves you forward. Whether you’re starting from the couch, building consistency, or chasing a new PR, your plan is designed to fit your life—not fight it. Athlete Requirements
My only requirement is a willingness to show up as you are and a commitment to the process. I work with runners of all levels who are ready to build a bridge to their wildest goals, whether that’s on the road or the trail. You don’t need an "elite" resume or the latest gear—you just need a desire to improve and a way to track your progress, whether that's a watch, a phone, or just a pair of shoes. Whether you are starting from scratch or leveling up your distance, if you are ready to be consistent and have a little fun with the miles, you’re in the right place.
