About Sara Plumstead
I am passionate about assisting each athlete I coach to achieve their dreams. For over 6 years I have coached runners of all ages and experience levels in distances from the 5k to the ultramarathon distance. No two athletes are alike, and I always take the unique circumstances of each runner I coach into consideration when designing a custom training plan to best meet their individual goals and dreams.
Description
I started running in 2008 after the birth of my second child. Since then I have lowered my marathon time from 3:31 to 3:00, and as a masters runner I still have the dream of breaking three hours in the marathon. In 2012 I began coaching group fitness classes, including: spinning, rowing, strength training, and multi-discipline bootcamps. A few years later I became a VDOT Certified run coach, which allowed me to combine my love of running and coaching. Since that time, I have coached runners of all ages and experience levels from the 5k to ultramarathons. In addition to my run coaching and group fitness certifications, I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling. I utilize this education and training to celebrate the unique strengths of each individual and utilize those to help them achieve their ultimate goals.
I am also the mother of two teenage daughters, one of whom has special needs. She has inspired my passion of inclusion in the running community. A coach is not just for the elite athlete. Runners of all abilities can benefit from the guidance of an experienced coach to help them achieve their goals while staying healthy, happy, and injury free.
Athlete Requirements
I welcome athletes of all ages and levels of experience. The coach/athlete relationship is a two-way street and frequent communication is crucial to success. I like to call it a collaboration. The more feedback I receive from my athletes the better coach I can be for them.
