Former College Runner and Now Sub-Elite Masters Runner
About Tyler Mueller
Hi! My name is Tyler Mueller and I'm a former college runner that took a long break from running before making a furious comeback to the sport over the last year and a half. I have personal experience with not running for 20 years and starting over, losing 60 lbs in about 8 months, and building to a marathon. I've gone from not being able to run a mile at 225 lbs to running 60-70 miles a week and preparing to run my first marathon in 2:45 in Houston. So far I have a 5k PR of 17:42, a 10k PR of 36:17, a half marathon PR of 1:27 (I tore my hamstring in mile 1 and still finished in 1:27).
Description
I grew up in a small midwestern town and was a good runner from as far back as I can remember. I have always loved running and loved learning about it. I have always been a student of the sport, even when I got away from it for years, I was still reading about it and following the sport.
I have experience in all sorts of injuries, rehab and prehab strategies that I use myself, nutrition advice, gear and race day advice, and strength training advice that I also use myself.
I surround myself with runners of all stages of the sport so that I can learn all different perspectives. I love learning from others, and I especially love teaching others and helping them avoid the mistakes that me and so many runners I know have made.
Athlete Requirements
A willingness to work hard and trust the process, but also an eagerness to learn and ask questions. If you're not asking questions, then it's hard to get in your head and know how to direct you properly.
